Liposuction
Liposuction, also called lipoplasty or suction-assisted lipectomy, removes deposits of excess fat from specific areas of your body. It can slim your hips and thighs, flatten your abdomen, shape your calves and ankles, eliminate a double chin, or contour flabby arms.
Liposuction is best suited for women who are of relatively normal weight but have isolated pockets of fat that cause persistent bulges below the waist, in the abdomen, hips, buttocks, and outer thighs. Liposuction is not a treatment for obesity. It is a contouring procedure to remove those stubborn deposits of fat which have resisted both diet and exercise. Liposuction is also popular among men, particularly for eliminating bulging fat around the waist.
Dr. Khoury uses the most recent advances in liposuction technology including 1) the use of very small cannulas, 2) the use of the tumescent or the super wet technique to infiltrate the fat tissue and reduce the bleeding to a strict minimum, 3) and the use of superficial liposuction in certain areas to allow better redraping of the skin.
Liposuction is performed within our office. You will be comfortably sedated with the aid of I.V. anesthesia. A small incision is made in the area and a special liposuction cannula is inserted to literally suck out the fat. After the appropriate amount of fat is removed, a compression garment is applied and worn for 2 to 4 weeks depending on the area treated.
